Lowell Sheppard, Asia Director of HOPE International Development Agency, is passionate about helping the poor. He has spent his entire adult life working with established NGOs/NPOs and at several start-up NGOs and has been involved with Hope for 25 years in varying capacities.
He has dedicated much of his life to social and environmental improvement projects. He was the chairman of the Whose Earth initiative in the UK and CEO of one of the UK’s largest youth charities. In addition, he was one of the founders and first chairman of Novimost, an NGO responding to the needs of those afflicted by war in the Balkans, and an executive member of Spring Harvest, an annual Christian festival which attracts more than 60,000 people each Easter and raises more than one million dollars for charities every year.

His many adventures and challenges -- including living in war zones, cycling across nations, and organizing a variety of sponsored challenges -- enrich his talks and inform his advice.
He has authored several books including: Never Too Late, ten tips to help men and women recapture their dreams and ambitions, invest in their future, and live a rich, productive, satisfying life; Never Ending Adventure; Miracle in Mostar; Nagoya International School: 40 Years; Their Future Our Passion; and Boys Becoming Men, on the importance of rites of passage and adventure. Chasing the Cherry Blossom, his fourth book, chronicled his 3,000 km bicycle ride down the coast of Japan during the Japanese people's celebration of spring.
Lowell was born in Canada but now lives in Nagoya, Japan, with his wife Kande where they work to put into practice their vision for a sustainable lifestyle with their own solar-powered eco-home/farm. They have two sons, Ryan and Mackenzie.
