英国、不況でも“グリーン”労働市場は拡大

LONDON, May 8 (Reuters) - Britain's "green" job market is thriving despite tough economic times and mounting redundancies in other sectors, environmental recruiters said on Friday.

Acre Resources saw job opportunities in Britain's renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainability and corporate social responsibility sectors grow by 58 percent in the past year, but gave no absolute figures on the size of the green job market.

GfK Roper社「2008グリーンゲージ報告書」:アメリカのグリーン意識が向上

Current Economic Environment Subduing Green Enthusiasm but Driving Practical Action

GfK Roper Consulting, a division of GfK Custom Research North America, today announced results from its 2008 GfK Roper Green Gauge study, revealing that consumers are not only more aware of green issues, but are finding practical ways to be eco-friendly while also saving money in today’s difficult economic times.

Nearly three-quarters (72%) of Americans say they know a lot or a fair amount about environmental issues and problems (up 7 points from 2007) and 28% often seek out environmental information (up 5 points).

The most common green actions are those that are helping Americans save money in their day-to-day lives. Seventy-six percent have bought energy efficient light bulbs and 58% have purchased energy saving appliances. Consumers are also  considering gas mileage in their next vehicle purchases more than ever before (81% up 15 points from 2007).

Chevron Liable for CSR Lawsuit?

Chevron may be in legal trouble related to its CSR and environmental liabilities:

(GreenBiz.com) Chevron reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 800,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent last year, surpassing its annual target as it has done every year since 2004.

The San Ramon, Calif.-based oil and gas company has improved the energy efficiency of its operations 28 percent since 1992, Chevron said today in its annual corporate responsibility report. It will begin reporting waste data and also develop a protocol for reporting water use.

The news isn’t all rosy: Chevron, for example, revealed the amount of petroleum spilled into the environment grew in 2008, although the number of incidents declined. And tucked into the middle of the report, Chevron also offered an update on a legal case that has garnered lots of attention, particularly in the last few days.
